Puffin Fledgling with Adult

Adopt A Puffin
For Father’s Day!

Father’s Day is almost here & we are honoring our puffin dads, BI70, BI98 and Y54.

Puffin dad Y54 is a very special dad. He was the first puffin to breed at Egg Rock in over 100 years! He is one of the two oldest breeding puffins on Easter Egg Rock Island. He will be 32 years old this year and has fathered more pufflings than any Egg Rock puffin—26 pufflings since 1981.

Puffin dad BI70 will be 31 years old this year. He is the father of at least 21 pufflings over 25 nesting seasons. Puffin dad BI98 will also be 31 years old. He is the father of 15 pufflings over 25 nesting seasons. All three dads have nested in the same burrow every year for over 20 years!

You can adopt one of these puffin dads as a gift for a special dad or dad-to-be so they can learn these and other amazing details. They will receive a biography of their adopted puffin, a certificate of adoption and your choice of a gift.

Or, you can make a donation to Project Puffin in honor of, or in memory of a special dad. Honorary or memorial donations of $100 and over will be listed in our Egg Rock Update newsletter.

PS: When adopting online, please let us know that this is a Father’s Day adoption. There is a special note box on the online form after you donate that you can tell us this and any other info you think we need to know regarding the adoption/donation. Father’s Day adoptions must be received by 2:00PM (Eastern Standard Time) Tuesday, June 16 to ensure arrival by Father’s Day. For adoptions made on Wednesday (June 17) and Thursday (June 18), please add $25 extra to your donation for Express Mail delivery. Thursday (June 18th) adoptions must be received by 1:00PM (Eastern Standard Time) to ensure Express Mail arrival. Adoptions made after this time will arrive after Father’s Day. We are in the midst of our summer observation season in Maine so your dad will receive our 2008 puffin biography in his adoption as we are currently observing the puffins in Maine. A complimentary 2009 biography will be sent to him (late December/January) after the observation season ends and the data are compiled.
