The Gulf of Maine

The Gulf of Maine in the Atlantic Ocean is home to Eastern Egg Rock and many other islands where seabirds nest. The seabirds share the gulf with lobster trappers and others who use the water for commerce or recreation. Lobster boats place traps close to Eastern Egg Rock with little impact on the nesting seabirds. A lobster boat is mobbed by hungry gulls
An Atlantic Puffin lands on its native breeding grounds, Eastern Egg Rock Atlantic Puffins have become a charismatic mascot for Maine and a proud part of its natural history. Project Puffin works hand-in-hand with local towns and organizations in efforts to promote the charming Puffins and insure their future.
